Manila to Baguio by EV: The Honest Guide
AddaVolt Blog · October 2026 · Road Trips
Every EV owner in Metro Manila eventually asks the same question: kaya ba ang Baguio?
Here is the honest answer: yes, more easily than you think - and the part that needs planning is not the part most people worry about.
The range math, honestly
Manila to Baguio runs about 250 kilometers via NLEX and TPLEX. Most current full-electric models sold in the Philippines list ranges of 300 to 400-plus kilometers per charge in their manufacturer specifications. Leave the city at full charge and the trip up fits inside a single charge for most modern EVs, with margin.
Two honest caveats. The climb from Rosario to Baguio works the battery harder than flat tollway - expect the last stretch to use range faster. And highway speeds consume more than city driving. Neither changes the answer. Both are why you leave at 100 percent and plan the arrival, not the trip.
The real question is not "can I get there?" It is "what happens when I arrive?" Baguio driving, errands, the trip home - that is where the plan matters.
The plan: charge where you sleep
The move that removes all of it: book where you can plug in. Check in at New Town Plaza Hotel in the city center, plug into an AddaVolt bay - Type 2, AC up to 22 kW - and the problem is solved while you sleep. You wake up at full charge with the whole city ahead of you and the drive home already covered. The descent to the lowlands barely spends battery; regenerative braking gives some of it back on the way down.
That is destination charging. No detour to a charging stop, no waiting around. The hotel stay is the charging session.
Before you leave Manila
One habit from our regular drivers: load your AddaVolt wallet before the trip. Download the app, top up over coffee, and arriving becomes park, scan, plug. Five steps, listed in our Baguio charging guide, two minutes at the bay.
The itinerary your EV pays for
Here is what the charged-while-parked trip looks like. Morning drive up TPLEX. Arrive, plug in, check in. Walk Session Road while the car charges. Mines View, Wright Park, the Night Market - the car sits full the entire time. Sunday breakfast, unplug, and roll downhill toward home with range to spare.
The whole trip, and charging never cost you a minute of it.
The bigger picture
The Manila-Baguio corridor is where Philippine destination charging proves itself, and it is getting easier every quarter - our network is growing along the routes people actually drive, from Baguio to Tagaytay and beyond. So yes: kaya ang Baguio. Book smart, load the wallet, and charge where you're already going.
